A Toshiba electric appliances store in Tokyo, Japan.
This logo was given up in 1969 after they found that it could be read as "Joshiba".

A Toshiba electric appliances store in Tokyo, Japan.
The Toshiba logo was used from 1950 to 1969 (according to Wikipedia Japanese edtion), so the store front is at least 40 years old, so is the boy.

The kanji here, 越, reads "koshi" and this is their old logo. Here is a scan of their advert in the 1870s or 1880s, on which you can see the same logo.

Hankyu is 阪急 (Hankyu Department Store), and Toshiba is 東芝. It was originally abbriviation for 東京芝浦電気 (Tokyo Shibaura Denki).

Lloyd George's War Memoirs (Japanese edition). The publisher was called Kaizo-sha, which was very popular at the time, but now long gone.
