It was like this when I walked by. I mean, I didn't make this. The leaves were here, and the petals were here... Now I wonder where this orange one had come from.
the end of the season, after the rain, in the coldness, on a perfect grey day.

It's raining and chilly today in Tokyo!
We had a very warm sunshine last weekend, and now, the winter is resisting. Today it's 7 or 8 degrees centigrade...
We call this weather "hana-bie (in Japanese, è±å·ã)" which means "blossom-time coldness." Here, the "blossom" is cherries.

This tree got its big branches cut before the season.

Cherry bloosoms come out from everywhere on the tree, just like this.
But I was amazed to see them blooming at the root of the tree!
First I thought they had been blown off the higher branches, and wanted to pick them up, when I found they were coming out from the ground.

A lot of cherry trees in Tokyo are "Somei-yoshino (in Japanese, ソメイヨシノ, but there are many different kind of cherries (sakura).
This very white cherry is "Oo-shima-zakura (in Japanese, 大島桜)".
The most outstanding difference is leaves come out at the same time as the blossoms.

I think it was like 25 degrees centigrade during the day today. Ten days ago, it was 9 or 12...
This surely is - or rather *was* when I saw it a few weeks ago - broccoli.
