Train crash in Amagasaki. BBC NEWS (in pictures) tells how big it was.

I am watching two morning news shows this morning. Five shots of the TV screen, four from one show and one from another, convined into one.

The top photo:
"JR TRAIN CRASH
71 KILLED, 442 WOUNDED"
(The train was packed with commuters in Osaka and Kobe area.)
Ambulance workers pulling out one wounded.

The second row, left:
A TV reporter in front of one of the hospitals where the wounded were taken, last night. He's watching an ambulance coming.

The second row, right:
Crashed train and rescue workers.

The bottom row, left:
The TV reporter talking to the camera.

The bottom row, right:
"Live from Amagasaki, the crash site"

I think this is a good source for learning several languages at one time. Seriously, you can look at the word "sugar", for example.

There are English, French, German, Spanish, Portguese, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish (mmm, difficult), Russian (this is very difficult), Greek (very difficult), Polish (difficult), Chech (difficult), Arabic (you'll need at least 30 days to learn the letters), Japanese (my native tongue so no problem for me), and Chinese (the characters are the same so I can guess to some extent).

In this picture, there are Norwegian (blurred), Danish, Finnish, Russian, Greek, Polish, Chech, Arabic, Japanese, and Chinese (blurred).

Too dark to catch the colour (fresh green). I will try this again next time I buy some broadbeans.

Four shots combined.

I found 初物 (the first-time-in-the-year) broadbean at my local supermarket. After taking these pics in a rush, under a dark kitchen light (you see how hard I was trying) I just boiled them and ... yummy!

Though they are everywhere in the area, I don't know the name of this blossom... even in Japanese. The blossom is tiny, five millimeters or so.

The other day, knautia reminded me of a book I bought but haven't read through yet. I have just discovered the book from the pile of the books, and here it is. (Two images are combined.)

Full of fine graphics from the Victorian magazines and newspapers, it is written by two Japanese academics (in Japanese, of course). Clearly written, it helps you a lot to get the picture of the Victorian "respected" society.

My first 108 (6 x 18) flickr faves. Please click on the "ALL SIZES" button to view a larger image. :-)

By the way, 108 is a number which reminds me of our new year's eve... I am not a religious person at all, but in Buddhism, it is said that we (I mean, ordinary people) have 108 "seeds of suffering," such as hatred and envy, in our own minds. And on the new year's eve, the bells at Buddhist temples around Japan are struck 108 times.

A roadside bunny. (I mean, this is not someone's garden or something.) He/She was looking up at me just like this, on the roadside. Poor bunny.

Mannequins are one of the things quickly disappearing from Tokyo. When I was a student, they were all over, even at your local store. They now exists mainly in very fashonable show-windows in a big commercial areas. Strange, I haven't been aware of this until I get to know the Mannequin group at Flickr.
